About AI training work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of how modern AI systems learn. Contributors annotate and evaluate documents, rate model outputs, and collect structured inputs that directly shape model behavior. Many roles are fully remote, flexible, and accessible without specialized credentials.
The role
OpenTrain is recruiting for an Operations Analyst with deep expertise in Google Workspace to improve workflows and contribute structured, high-quality feedback for AI training projects. This is a remote contractor position, expected 20+ hours per week, focused on documents and process optimization for AI labeling and evaluation tasks.
Compensation is hourly, ranging from $63–$119/hr depending on experience and scope. Work will involve document-oriented labeling and evaluation tasks (EVALUATION_RATING and DATA_COLLECTION) using a third-party or custom labeling tool (listed as OTHER).
What you'll do
- Analyze and optimize operational workflows using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify practical process improvements and tooling patterns for document workflows.
- Provide detailed, structured feedback and ratings that support AI training and evaluation tasks.
- Document procedures, templates, and best practices; maintain clear written guidance for distributed teams.
- Conduct audits of data and workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
- Troubleshoot Google Workspace issues and support ongoing operational needs.
- Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing to drive continuous project improvement.
Requirements
Candidates must meet all listed requirements. We ask that you preserve accuracy and attention to detail when documenting processes and delivering evaluation input.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in operations, process improvement, or a closely related role.
- Expert-level proficiency with Google Workspace: Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong focus on clarity and detail.
- Proven ability to analyze complex workflows and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working remotely.
- Self-motivated and proactive; effective working independently and as part of a distributed team.
- Fluent in English (work language for the role).
Who should apply
This role is a good fit if you enjoy improving document workflows, translating messy processes into clear procedures, and producing high-quality, structured input that trains AI systems. You should be comfortable working remotely as a contractor and able to commit 20+ hours per week.
Applicants do not need prior experience in data labeling specifically, but must bring strong operational experience and expert Google Workspace skills.
How it works
If interested, create or sign in to your OpenTrain account and apply through the project listing. OpenTrain will review applicants and may request examples of prior workflow documentation or a short skills assessment using Google Workspace.
As a contractor, you'll be given project guidelines and labeling/evaluation instructions; you will submit documented procedures, audit results, and evaluation ratings per project requirements. Payment is hourly and handled according to the contract terms agreed with OpenTrain.
