About This Role
We are recruiting Mathematics professors and researchers (PhD) to join a dynamic, impact-driven project focused on training next-generation AI systems. You will apply your deep mathematical expertise to review, author, and refine high-quality mathematical content used to teach and evaluate models.
This is a part-time contractor role requiring a minimum commitment of 20+ hours per week. The project is remote and open to contributors worldwide who are fluent in English. Compensation is US$60–90 per hour depending on experience and scope.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
- Time requirement: 20+ hours/week
- Pay: US$60–90 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
- Location: Remote, worldwide (English required)
- Labeling work: Text — Evaluation/Rating and Text Generation
What You'll Do
Use your expertise to create, evaluate, and improve mathematical content that trains and tests AI reasoning. Work focuses on clarity, correctness, pedagogical value, and coverage across undergraduate and graduate topics.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate complex mathematical content and provide detailed domain-specific feedback.
- Develop original problems, proofs, solutions, and teaching materials across a range of mathematics topics.
- Annotate and refine mathematical datasets for accuracy, depth, and instructional quality.
- Draft clear written explanations and step-by-step solutions tailored for model learning.
- Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to define quality standards and coverage.
- Participate in iterative review cycles to improve dataset robustness and diversity.
Requirements
Candidates must bring strong academic credentials and documented teaching or research experience in mathematics. The role prioritizes subject-matter expertise; prior AI experience is not required.
- PhD in Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field (required).
- Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching or advanced mathematical research.
- Proven ability to communicate intricate mathematical concepts precisely in writing and verbally.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when reviewing mathematical work and educational content.
- Familiarity with contemporary mathematical literature and current research trends.
Helpful Background & Who Should Apply
This role is a great fit for academics, researchers, and instructors who enjoy crafting clear explanations and rigorous problem sets. It is especially well suited to people who want to shape how AI systems learn to reason about mathematics.
- Experience creating problem sets, lecture notes, or assessment materials is a plus.
- Intellectual curiosity about AI and its implications for mathematical discovery and instruction is welcome but not required.
- Ideal for contributors seeking flexible, part-time remote work that uses advanced domain expertise.
How Work Fits, Tools, and Next Steps
Tasks are text-focused and include both evaluation/rating and generation of mathematical content. The project uses labeling software listed as 'OTHER'; you will receive instructions and quality guidelines specific to each task.
To apply, create a free OpenTrain account, build your profile, and submit your interest for this project. OpenTrain connects your profile to the project so you can be considered, receive onboarding materials, and start work promptly if selected.
- Data type: Text. Label types: Evaluation/Rating and Text Generation.
