We focus on practical, flexible remote work that lets contributors step into fast-growing AI careers — whether part-time or full-time, entry-level or specialist.

  • Work 100% remotely and set a flexible schedule around other commitments.
  • Build experience that directly shapes how modern AI systems behave.
  • Projects range from entry-level annotation to specialized RLHF and evaluation work.

About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building AI: people prepare, structure, and evaluate real examples that models learn from.

This role sits at the intersection of marketing and generative-AI training — you’ll turn messy workplace communications into training items that teach agents how to act on real business problems.

  • Tasks can include writing prompts, creating multi-step workflows, and building evaluation rubrics.
  • Many projects accept contributors without prior labeling experience if they have the relevant domain knowledge.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Marketing AI Task Specialist (contractor, part-time) to read authentic workplace communications and convert them into realistic, multi-step marketing tasks and evaluation rubrics for AI agents.

This is a remote, English-language role open worldwide and expected to run at 20+ hours per week. Employment type: contractor, part-time. Data handled is text-based (Slack, email, internal docs). Label types include question answering, text generation, and evaluation rating; software is listed as OTHER.

  • Work with real Slack messages, email threads, and internal documents from startup environments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow data security expectations while handling sensitive materials.

What you'll do

You will transform fragmented workplace context into clear, actionable training items and evaluation criteria that reflect genuine marketing operations and decisions.

  • Interpret Slack messages, email threads, and internal documents to extract relevant marketing details.
  • Identify decisions, action items, dependencies, blockers, and outstanding questions in conversations.
  • Build realistic multi-step tasks for marketing, sales, or business operations scenarios.
  • Write clear, concise prompts and evaluation rubrics grounded in real workplace data.
  • Balance context sensitivity with discernment so only relevant information is included.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security when handling authentic startup communications.

Requirements

You must be comfortable working independently in an asynchronous remote team and show exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (required).
  • Experience interpreting, synthesizing, and structuring messy business or marketing data.
  • Ability to trace decisions and resolve ambiguities in distributed workplace communications.
  • Skill in separating relevant from irrelevant context in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience creating process-driven workflows and documenting multi-step projects or campaigns.
  • High attention to detail and a meticulous approach to quality and confidentiality.

Helpful background — who should apply

This contractor role fits practitioners who understand how marketing work is actually done and can spot structure inside messy communications to create realistic training and evaluation materials.

  • Startup operations, campaign management, project management, sales, or business analysis experience in marketing-centric environments is helpful.
  • Entry-level applicants with hands-on marketing or operations experience and strong communication skills are encouraged to apply.

Compensation, schedule, and how to apply

Compensation is hourly, paid in USD. The project lists an hourly range of $20–$45/hr (top rate $45/hr). Time commitment is 20+ hours per week; this is a contractor, part-time engagement.
