About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. Contributors use OpenTrain to discover projects, build a unified AI training portfolio, and grow freelance careers focused on the human work that teaches AI systems.

Why AI Training Work Matters

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare and review examples that models learn from. This role places your consulting skills directly into that workflow—shaping model behavior by producing high-quality business content, rubrics, and evaluation criteria.

This kind of work is typically 100% remote, flexible, and accessible to skilled professionals. It’s a way to do part-time, high-impact work that influences state-of-the-art systems without relocating.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a remote contractor to provide management consulting and business strategy input that supports AI model training. You will produce executive-ready deliverables—presentations, reports, analyses, and scoring rubrics—used both for human review processes and to train/evaluate generative models.

The engagement is part-time, expected to be 20+ hours per week, paid hourly at $50–$70 USD depending on experience. Work is performed remotely and the project is open to contributors worldwide who can work in English.

What You'll Do

Deliver high-quality business artifacts that can be directly used for model training, evaluation, and human-review workflows. Your work will be judged on clarity, rigor, and usefulness to decision-makers and training pipelines.

  • Develop and review strategic recommendations aligned to client objectives.
  • Create executive-level slide decks, reports, and visualizations.
  • Conduct market analyses and operational assessments and synthesize findings into actionable frameworks.
  • Build and interpret financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses.
  • Evaluate and critique business documents with structured, actionable feedback.
  • Design rubrics and scoring criteria based on visual documents or presentations.
  • Summarize insights to support high-level decision-making and RLHF/evaluation tasks.

Requirements

You must be able to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment and communicate complex ideas clearly for executive and non-technical audiences.

  • Background in management consulting, business strategy, corporate strategy, business transformation, operations consulting, private equity operations, or internal strategy (required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (required).
  • Experience creating executive presentations, reports, and visually engaging materials (required).
  • Strong analytical skills including market research and financial modeling (required).
  • Familiarity with rubrics, frameworks, or scoring guides derived from business materials (required).

Helpful Background

The following experiences are useful but not strictly required: roles at consulting firms (including Big 4), corporate strategy teams, transformation programs, or private equity operations where you routinely created or reviewed slide decks and business cases.

Direct prior experience contributing to AI training projects or building evaluation rubrics will make you especially effective in this role.

Schedule, Pay, and Tools

This contract is part-time (20+ hours/week). Compensation is hourly at $50–$70 USD per hour depending on experience. Labeling work for this project will focus on documents and text-generation/evaluation tasks (RLHF and rating).

  • Work is remote and open to contributors worldwide who can work in English.
  • Data type: document-based tasks; label types include TEXT_GENERATION, EVALUATION_RATING, and RLHF.
  • Labeling software is listed as OTHER — you may use web-based annotation or collaboration tools as provided by the project.

How It Works / How To Apply

If this role fits your background, prepare examples of executive presentations, strategic analyses, or financial models you have produced (redacted as needed). Applications should highlight consulting experience and any prior rubric or AI-training work.

OpenTrain connects you to the project and manages your profile and portfolio so you can apply quickly and track engagements across AI training opportunities.

  • Submit a brief cover note describing relevant consulting experience and availability for 20+ hrs/week.
  • Include links or attachments that demonstrate slide decks, reports, or models you produced.
