About AI training and image annotation
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models to understand real-world images. Image annotation projects like this one are essential for training vision systems that recognize objects and structure in photos — and they’re often flexible, remote, and accessible to people without prior industry experience.
The role
You will annotate images of guitars to produce precise polygon and box labels that mark frets, the fretboard playing surface, and the nut. This is a contract, entry-level task open to contributors worldwide. The project uses Label Studio and pays a fixed price of USD 500 for the completed set of annotations.
- Employment type: Contractor (short-term project)
- Pay: Fixed price — USD 500 total
- Data type: Images
- Labeling tool: Label Studio
- Location: Remote — worldwide
What you'll do
Follow detailed labeling instructions to create accurate annotations for each image. Work carefully to ensure consistent labels across the dataset.
- Annotate each fret with a polygon — one polygon per fret across the entire visible fretboard.
- Annotate the fretboard as a whole with a single polygon or bounding box covering the main playing surface.
- Annotate the nut as a single box or polygon at the top of the fretboard.
- Exclude the player's hand from fret and fretboard annotations — do not include hands inside the polygons for frets or the main fretboard surface.
Requirements
This is an entry-level project focused on careful, consistent image annotation. The project specifies polygon labeling and uses Label Studio; attention to detail is critical.
- Entry-level — no prior professional annotation experience required.
- Comfort using web-based annotation tools; this project uses Label Studio.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise labeling rules.
- Reliable internet connection and a device capable of running Label Studio in a browser.
Who should apply
This project suits people who enjoy visual, detail-oriented tasks and want flexible, remote contract work. Guitar familiarity is helpful for context but not required — careful following of the instructions is the priority.
- Ideal for entry-level annotators, students, or people looking for flexible remote work.
- Musicians or guitar players may find the content familiar, but this is not required.
