About AI training and why it matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human work that teaches models to understand language and documents. By creating and validating realistic financial documents, you directly shape how AI systems read, generate, and evaluate finance content.
This is flexible, remote work that lets you apply finance domain expertise in short- or medium-term contractor projects; prior AI experience is helpful but not required for many roles.
The role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a German Financial Document Specialist to create, review, and refine German-language financial documents used for AI training and evaluation. This is a part-time contractor role, remote, and requires at least 20 hours per week.
You will produce high-quality documents and structured files that reflect real-world finance practice so models learn accurate, reliable outputs.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
- Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
- Location: Remote (US-based candidates are preferred)
- Pay: Paid per hour — up to $55 USD/hour (range $10–$55 USD/hour)
What you'll do
- Review and refine German financial documents for accuracy, clarity, and real-world fidelity.
- Create spreadsheets, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Identify inconsistencies, resolve issues, and apply finance knowledge to improve document quality.
- Produce content and annotations that support text-generation and evaluation-rating tasks for model training.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teammates and communicate clearly in German (written and verbal).
- Follow confidentiality and data security best practices while working remotely.
Requirements
- Native-level German with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum 3 years of finance experience creating, handling, or reviewing financial documents.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Close attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred background
- Experience working in a Fortune 500 or large corporate finance environment.
- Previous contributions to AI, machine learning, or technology-driven projects.
- Advanced finance certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) or other specialist credentials.
- US-based candidates are preferred but not strictly required.
Technical details, workflow & compensation
Project work focuses on document data (German-language financial reports, spreadsheets, and presentations). Labeling tasks include text-generation materials and evaluation-rating of model outputs. Work will use the project's tooling (listed as OTHER) and standard office software.
Compensation is hourly. The role is paid per hour with a listed rate up to $55 USD/hour (hourly range $10–$55 USD). You will be engaged as a contractor and expected to follow the project's confidentiality and security guidelines.
How to apply
If you meet the requirements, apply on OpenTrain with your resume and examples of finance documents or a short summary of relevant experience. Include details about your German language proficiency and the Microsoft Office work you’ve done.
Applications should highlight finance-specific responsibilities (types of reports, tools, and environments you've worked in) and any prior AI-related contributions if applicable.
