About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover specialized AI-training projects, consolidate opportunities, and build a unified portfolio that shows the real work they do—so freelancers can grow durable careers teaching AI.

Why work in AI training

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building machine intelligence. Contributors annotate documents, rate outputs, and provide domain expertise so models learn how to reason, write, and make decisions.

This work is highly flexible and remote-friendly—many contributors choose hours to fit study, family, or other work—and it’s one of the fastest-growing ways to apply specialist skills like finance directly to cutting-edge AI systems.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting Financial Investment Analysts to provide real-world financial input that trains AI systems to understand investment analysis and valuation. This is a remote contract position, part-time (20+ hours/week) with hourly pay between USD 154 and 210 per hour depending on task complexity and reviewer level.

You will work with document-based tasks: evaluating financial analyses, contributing labeled examples, and creating/assessing models and write-ups that help AI learn financial reasoning. Eligible applicants must be located in the US, GB, CA, AU, or NZ and must be fluent in English.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week

  • Prepare forecasts, reports, and presentation-quality write-ups for labeling and evaluation tasks.
  • Analyze datasets to extract insights supporting capital markets and investment decisions.
  • Monitor market trends and fintech developments to inform annotations and model training.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support AI-driven financial projects.

Requirements

Candidates must meet all stated requirements; applications missing required qualifications will not be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis, investment analysis, or capital markets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Expertise in DCF, LBO, valuation techniques, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prepare and present detailed financial reports.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Helpful background

The following are not required but will strengthen your application and match you to higher-complexity tasks.

  • Experience in fintech or with AI-driven financial solutions.
  • Professional certification such as CFA or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, remote environment.

Commitment to quality and intellectual property

This role requires submitting analysis that is already documented in your personal portfolio. You may only share materials you own or are authorized to share; do not submit employer-owned documents without explicit permission. Accuracy, clear sourcing, and traceable ownership of examples are essential to participate.

How to apply and what to expect

If you meet the requirements, prepare a concise portfolio showing your financial models, reports, or summaries that you are authorized to share. Be ready to complete evaluation tasks that demonstrate your modeling and written-communication skills.

OpenTrain will match accepted contributors with contract tasks that fit their expertise and availability. Pay is per-hour (USD) ranging from 154 to 210 depending on task complexity and reviewer level; exact compensation will be communicated with each assignment.
