About AI Training Work — Why This Matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people annotate, review, and critique examples so models learn to behave correctly. Contributors influence how state-of-the-art AI performs in real-world settings.
This role places you at the intersection of finance and AI: your domain expertise ensures models understand valuation, risk, compliance, and corporate finance the way practitioners do.
The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Finance AI Trainer (contractor, part-time) to help train next-generation AI systems using real-world financial context. Work centers on investment banking, risk management, portfolio management, corporate financial strategy, and regulatory compliance.
This remote role requires structured written feedback, collaboration with other finance experts, and hands-on review of financial materials and models to improve training data quality and model performance.
- Employment type: Contractor, part-time
- Location: Remote / worldwide
- Time commitment: 20+ hours/week (see Requirements for additional notes)
- Pay: $40–$65 per hour (USD), pay-per-hour contractor)
What You’ll Do
You will review finance content, evaluate model outputs, and provide clear, structured feedback that helps AI teams improve training data and model behavior.
- Review and analyze finance topics across investment banking, risk management, portfolio management, and corporate financial strategy.
- Evaluate and develop detailed financial valuation models, primarily in xlsx format, to support investment theses and scenarios.
- Track regulatory compliance changes and explain their impact on financial workflows and industry standards.
- Deliver structured written and verbal feedback on workflows, datasets, methodologies, and model outputs.

Candidates must bring deep, practical finance experience and strong communication skills. The list below reflects all required skills and time expectations mentioned for this role.
- 5 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in roles such as Investment Banking Analyst, Corporate Risk Manager, Portfolio/Asset Manager, or Financial Manager.
- Advanced proficiency building and auditing financial valuation models, especially in xlsx.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; ability to produce clear reports, memos, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Experience tracking and interpreting regulatory compliance changes and their impacts.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail in complex financial environments.
- Ability to commit at least 10+ hours per week (note: the role’s expected time commitment is 20+ hours/week).
Preferred / Helpful Background
These are not required but will help your application stand out.
- Experience working in US, Canada, UK, Europe, or LATAM financial sectors.
- Direct involvement in AI, fintech, or data-driven finance projects.
- Previous collaboration with cross-functional teams in remote settings.
How the Work Is Delivered
You will evaluate documents and model outputs (dataType: DOCUMENT) and produce evaluation ratings and text-generation style feedback (label types: EVALUATION_RATING, TEXT_GENERATION). OpenTrain and its AI teams will use your written reviews and annotated examples to improve model training.
(projects may use a custom or third-party platform). As a contractor you will be paid per hour on a pay-per-hour basis.
