About AI training and this work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of model building: people prepare and review examples that modern AI systems learn from. For autonomous vehicles, that means helping models recognize actions like turning, yielding, or lane following.
This role puts you on the front line of driving-safety work: your annotations will directly help autonomous-driving systems understand real-world behavior.
The role
You will watch short (5-second) driving video clips and select one frame that most clearly captures the target vehicle behavior. Each clip is labeled with a single behavior chosen from a predefined list (for example: turning, lane keeping, yielding).
This is a part-time contractor role (under 20 hours per week) paid hourly. The position is entry-level but requires 1–2 years of prior data-labeling experience and a valid German driver’s license.
- Pay: $19 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR, USD)
- Commitment: Less than 20 hours/week, flexible scheduling
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
- Data type: Video; Label type: Action recognition; Tool: Other (web-based annotation platform)
What you’ll do day to day
Tasks are focused and repeatable: review a short clip, identify the moment that best represents the specified behavior, and mark the single frame that matches the label.
Work is delivered in small batches so you can pick sessions that fit your schedule. Clear labeling instructions and examples will be provided for each behavior category.
- Watch 5-second driving clips and choose one representative frame per clip
- Apply a single behavior label from a predefined list for each clip
- Follow detailed annotation guidelines and examples to ensure high-quality labels
- Provide consistent, accurate annotations to improve autonomous-driving models
Requirements
We will only consider candidates who meet the specific requirements below. Please do not apply unless you can verify each item.
Applicants must be able to submit proof of a valid German driver’s license; you may redact sensitive personal details (birthdate or ID number) from the image of your license if desired.
- Valid driver’s license issued in Germany — required (failure to provide valid proof is disqualifying)
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in data labeling or equivalent annotation work
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise labeling guidelines
- Comfortable analyzing short video clips and making quick, accurate judgments
- Reliable internet connection and a computer capable of running a web-based annotation tool
How work and pay work
This role is paid hourly at $19/hr. You will be engaged as a contractor and can choose shifts or batches that fit your availability (under 20 hours/week). Pay and contracting details will be handled through the platform/project onboarding.
Labels are single-frame action-recognition annotations on short video clips. The annotation tool is web-based and categorized as “Other” in the project description; training and examples will be provided before you begin paid work.
- Hourly pay: $19 USD
- Schedule: flexible, part-time, <20 hrs/week
- Onboarding includes training, examples, and a short qualification task
How to apply and assessment process
To apply, create or sign in to your OpenTrain profile and submit your résumé or summary of labeling experience plus a redacted image of your German driver’s license. Applications without verifiable German license proof will not be considered.
The assessment includes questions about your labeling experience, confirmation of license status, and scenario-based annotation tasks that test your judgment on driving behaviors. Candidates who cannot provide a valid license will be disqualified.
- Submit experience details and a redacted copy of your German driver’s license
- Complete a short qualification test with sample 5-second clips
- Be prepared for scenario questions that evaluate your ability to identify behaviors consistently
