About This Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a DevOps Engineer contractor to support AI training efforts and infrastructure. This is a remote, part-time contractor role (20+ hours/week) suitable for someone with strong Linux, cloud, container, automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and security skills.

No prior AI experience is required—this role focuses on infrastructure that enables AI training projects across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Digital Ocean.

What You'll Do

You will design, deploy, and maintain resilient infrastructure to support AI training workloads, build and streamline deployment processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep systems secure and performant.

  • Design, deploy, and manage resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Digital Ocean.
  • Implement and streamline CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable deployments.
  • Build and maintain containerized applications with Docker and orchestrate clusters with Kubernetes.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management with Terraform and Ansible.
  • Monitor system health and performance with Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging tools.
  • Handle access management and secrets with IAM and security best practices.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills

Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience across core infrastructure, automation, and cloud tooling. Remote collaboration and the ability to work independently as a contractor are essential.

  • Linux system administration and fundamental networking concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with Digital Ocean, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of IAM principles, secrets management, and security best practices.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, and logging tools.
