The role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Database Administrator to contribute directly to next-generation AI systems by managing the databases that supply training data. This is a part-time, remote contractor role estimated at about 20 hours per week for 1–3 months with flexible scheduling.

What you'll do
You will manage large-scale relational database environments and work with cross-functional teams to keep training data available, accurate, and performant.
- Analyze and optimize database performance in large-scale MySQL and PostgreSQL environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust database structures in partnership with development teams.
- Develop, test, and manage data backup and recovery procedures for business-critical information.
- Proactively monitor database environments to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database solutions with evolving business needs.
- Document database configurations, processes, and best practices for operational transparency.
- Stay current with emerging SQL and database technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
