About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized platform where people begin and grow careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with projects that power real AI systems and help freelancers build a consolidated portfolio they control.
Working through OpenTrain means joining a fast-growing part of the tech industry: flexible, remote work that directly shapes how AI models behave and learn.
About AI training work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Modern models learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people — and data analysis is a critical part of ensuring those examples are high quality and useful.
Contributors do everything from preparing datasets and rating outputs to analyzing trends that guide model improvements. This role supports those efforts by turning raw text data into reliable, actionable insights.
The role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a contract Data Analyst to support development of next-generation AI systems for OpenTrain. You will analyze large text datasets, build and optimize PL/SQL queries, automate data workflows with Python, and produce clear reports that influence model training and evaluation.
This is a remote, part-time contractor role requiring availability of 20+ hours per week. Work language: English. This position may involve evaluation rating and data-collection tasks on text data.
What you'll do
- Analyze large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support AI learning objectives.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain advanced PL/SQL queries for efficient data extraction, transformation, and manipulation.
- Write Python scripts for automation, data cleaning, and statistical analysis.
- Create comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
- Document processes and methodologies with meticulous attention to detail to ensure reproducibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
- Proficient in Python for data analysis, automation, and scripting tasks.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex insights to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage priorities effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Helpful background
The following are not required but will help you succeed and stand out on this project.
