About AI training work
AI training (data labeling or annotation) is the human layer behind modern AI: people prepare, curate, and evaluate examples that teach models to read, write, listen, and reason. This field offers flexible, remote work and a chance to shape how state-of-the-art systems behave.
- Work is remote and often part-time or contract-based.
- Projects range from content creation and editing to rating model outputs and evaluating text generation.
The role
OpenTrain is recruiting a remote Content Producer focused on developing, curating, reviewing, and assessing written and multimedia material used to train next-generation AI systems. This is a contract, part-time role that requires strong editorial judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and clear English communication.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Time commitment: 20+ hours/week; role description also notes contributions starting at 10 hours/week — schedule is flexible.
- Pay: $40–$65 per hour (USD).
- Data type: Text; typical tasks include text generation and evaluation/rating.
What you'll do
You will shape content used to train AI by producing, evaluating, and improving written and multimedia materials. Expect collaborative review cycles and opportunities to influence project standards and creative direction.
- Develop and curate content aligned with AI training objectives.
- Review, edit, and provide detailed feedback on written and multimedia submissions.
- Apply editorial standards to improve relevance, authenticity, and quality.
- Collaborate with producers, editors, directors, and journalists to meet deliverables.
- Document findings, challenges, and creative suggestions in clear written and verbal form.
Requirements
You must bring strong editorial experience, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- 5 to 10+ years professional experience in media production, editorial work, publishing, or a related field.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven content strategy, editing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Background in academic or commercial publishing or music-related projects.
- High attention to detail, strong organization, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to produce high-quality content independently and on schedule.
Helpful background
These are not strict requirements but will help you succeed faster on projects that combine editorial craft with technical workflows.
- Experience on AI, technology-driven, or data-focused projects.
- Comfort adapting quickly to new tools, labeling platforms, and evolving processes.
Who should apply
Experienced editors, producers, and publishing or music professionals who want flexible, remote contract work and to contribute directly to how AI systems learn and behave should apply. If you enjoy high editorial standards and collaborative creative work, this role fits well.
