About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled freelancers with specialized projects that teach models how to understand real-world domains, help contributors consolidate opportunities, and support durable freelance careers in a fast-growing industry.

Contributors on OpenTrain work remotely, often part-time and flexibly, and directly shape how state-of-the-art AI systems behave by providing the real-world expertise these models need.

About this Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Expert to support AI model development with domain knowledge in commercial leasing, valuations, feasibility analysis, and property management. This is a remote contractor role for experienced practitioners who can produce careful written analysis and high-quality feedback for data-training tasks.

Work is part-time and flexible. The role focuses on reviewing documents and creating clear, expert-written explanations and ratings that guide model training.

  • Employment type: Contractor, part-time; remote and open worldwide.
  • Pay: hourly, USD $40–$65/hr (rate depends on experience; top listed $65/hr).
  • Estimated time: typical engagements expect 20+ hours/week; minimum availability from the description is 10 hours/week.
  • Language: strong written and verbal English required.

What you'll do

You will apply commercial-real-estate judgment to annotate, evaluate, and generate high-quality text that trains generative models and evaluation systems. Tasks are document-focused and combine ratings with written explanations.

  • Review commercial lease agreements and translate clauses and concepts into clear written explanations for model training.
  • Provide expert input on feasibility studies, property valuations, market trends, and commercial property appraisals.
  • Create and vet realistic property-management scenarios; evaluate best practices and industry standards.
  • Assess legal and regulatory nuances affecting commercial real estate across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe where applicable.
  • Participate in iterative feedback cycles and communicate findings with project managers and technical teams.

Requirements

We require experienced commercial real estate professionals who can explain complex concepts clearly and work collaboratively in remote projects.

  • 5–10+ years’ experience as a commercial real estate broker, property valuation appraiser, or property manager.
  • Deep knowledge of feasibility studies, lease agreements, property-management strategies, and market analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain complex real estate concepts clearly and concisely in written form.
  • Availability to contribute regularly (see About this Role for hours expectations).

Helpful background

The following experience is not required but will help you succeed and move into higher-paying, specialized projects on OpenTrain.

  • Prior experience in AI, data training, or technology-driven real estate projects.
  • Experience working with diverse, remote teams and providing structured feedback to technical stakeholders.

How the work is delivered

This role is document-focused: you will evaluate and rate documents and also generate expert-written text used to train models. Tasks include both evaluation ratings and short- to medium-length text generation for explanations and examples.

Labeling software may be a third-party or proprietary tool (labeled in the project as OTHER). You will join iterative review cycles with project managers; expect clear instructions, sample annotations, and quality checks.

  • Data type: documents (lease agreements, appraisals, reports, market summaries).
  • Label types: Evaluation ratings and text generation (expert explanations, scenario write-ups).
  • Collaboration: iterative feedback with project managers and technical teams; quality checks will be used to maintain standards.

Who should apply and next steps

Apply if you are an experienced commercial real estate practitioner who enjoys explaining your decisions in writing and wants flexible, remote contract work that influences how AI systems understand the CRE domain.

To apply, create or use your OpenTrain profile, include a brief summary of your CRE experience, and confirm your availability and preferred hourly rate within the listed $40–$65/hr range. Qualified applicants will be invited to a short onboarding and sample-task phase.
