The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an expert Clinical Documentation Integrity AI Reviewer to evaluate AI tools that support clinical documentation improvement. You will review AI-generated clinical documentation improvement suggestions, physician queries, and coding recommendations, then provide structured clinical feedback for healthcare AI training datasets.

The work also supports CDI program workflows, documentation quality monitoring, and accurate capture of diagnoses, procedures, severity of illness, and risk of mortality. This is a part-time contractor opportunity for candidates located in the United States.

What You'll Do

You will apply your CDI and clinical documentation expertise to assess AI-generated content and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, compliance, and clinical usefulness.

  • Review AI-generated CDI suggestions, physician queries, and coding recommendations for accuracy and compliance
  • Support inpatient and outpatient CDI workflows, including concurrent and retrospective review
  • Provide structured clinical feedback and annotations for AI training datasets
  • Monitor query response rates, CC/MCC capture, case mix index, and DRG accuracy
  • Help improve physician query processes and documentation education
  • Evaluate clinical records for accurate capture of diagnoses, procedures, severity of illness, and risk of mortality

Required Qualifications

This role requires substantial experience leading or supporting clinical documentation integrity programs. Candidates should be able to interpret medical records precisely and evaluate documentation against applicable clinical, coding, and compliance expectations.

Familiarity with AHIMA, ACDIS, CMS, and official coding guidance is important for reviewing physician queries and coding-related recommendations.

  • Experience leading clinical documentation integrity or improvement programs
  • Deep knowledge of CDI workflows, including concurrent and retrospective review
  • Deep knowledge of MS-DRG methodology and CC/MCC hierarchies
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding
  • Experience managing physician queries using compliant query standards
  • Ability to evaluate clinical documentation for accuracy, compliance, and risk capture
  • CCDS, CDIP, RN, RHIA, CCS, or comparable clinical or coding background
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Familiarity with CDI software platforms and EHR systems
