About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover AI training projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career doing the human work that teaches AI.
You’ll join a community of contributors who work remotely, choose flexible hours, and directly influence how state-of-the-art AI systems behave.
About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare and review examples that models learn from. For CAD projects, that means domain experts help ensure design files are accurate, consistent, and usable for downstream model training and evaluation.
This role contributes to that process by providing high-quality CAD reviews, annotations, and evaluations that improve dataset integrity and model performance.
The Role
We’re recruiting a CAD Design Review Expert to work on AutoCAD files and technical design review for AI training projects. You will review, analyze, refine, annotate, label, and evaluate 2D and 3D CAD designs to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project requirements.
This is a contract, part-time position expected to be 20+ hours per week and fully remote; contributors may come from varied engineering or drafting backgrounds if they meet the technical requirements.
- Work type: Contract, Part-time
- Time commitment: 20+ hours/week
- Languages: English required
- Geography: Worldwide (remote)
What You’ll Do
- Review and refine AutoCAD files to support data integrity and design standards.
- Annotate, label, and evaluate CAD designs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Provide expert feedback on 2D and 3D models and flag issues or ambiguities.
- Apply CAD best practices and drafting techniques across workflows.
- Identify gaps in files or processes and propose improvements to CAD workflows.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to AI development teams and collaborators.
Requirements
The role requires demonstrable CAD expertise and the ability to deliver clear, timely reviews in a remote setting.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Extensive experience with 2D and 3D modeling.
- Strong understanding of CAD standards, drafting techniques, and design principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical ability.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and workflows and commit to high-quality, timely deliverables.
Helpful Background
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, AI).
- Previous involvement in AI-related annotation or dataset projects.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Revit, or similar CAD software.
- Background in training, technical writing, or engineering documentation.
Compensation, Data & Tools
Pay is hourly with a range of $20–$70/hour (project-dependent), billed per hour. This role focuses on document-style data (CAD/DWG/DXF files) and uses custom labeling/review workflows (labeling software listed as 'OTHER'). Labeling tasks include evaluation/rating and data collection activities.
- Data type: Document (CAD files, drawings, models).
- Label types: Evaluation / Rating and Data Collection.
- (project-specific tools and workflows).
Who Should Apply & Next Steps
Apply if you are an experienced AutoCAD user who enjoys precise technical review, clear communication, and contributing to AI datasets. This role is ideal for drafters, CAD engineers, or technical document specialists seeking flexible, remote contract work.
To apply, prepare examples of past CAD work or a brief summary of relevant experience. Successful applicants will be asked to complete a short qualification task to demonstrate AutoCAD proficiency and attention to detail.
- Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.
- Employer (from posting): OpenTrain via OpenTrain.
