Why AI training matters
AI training (data labeling, annotation, human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare and review examples that teach models to understand language, documents, and workplace contexts.
Contributors work remotely, often part time and flexibly, and directly influence the behavior of state-of-the-art AI tools used across industries.
The role
You will work as a remote contractor creating and evaluating business-operations AI tasks and rubrics using authentic workplace communications (Slack threads, emails, internal files). Expect to analyze messy, fragmented sources and translate them into clear prompts and evaluation criteria for AI agents.
This is a part-time contract role (20+ hours/week), open worldwide, paid hourly. Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Data type: Documents (Slack, email threads, internal files).
- Labeling work includes evaluation ratings and data collection.
- (details provided during onboarding).
What you'll do
Deliver clear, usable tasks and rubrics that allow AI systems to act on real workplace problems and to be reliably evaluated by human reviewers.
- Review fragmented workplace information and extract actionable insights, decisions, dependencies, and unresolved issues.
- Create clear prompts that instruct AI agents using provided business materials.
- Design evaluation rubrics and rating scales for model outputs.
- Distinguish relevant from irrelevant information as business contexts evolve.
- Work methodically with incomplete or ambiguous information to produce structured outputs.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive business data.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following skills and experience requirements exactly as listed.
- Expertise in workplace domains such as management, operations, marketing, sales, engineering, or startup business operations.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience working with unstructured or messy business data (emails, chat logs, notes, internal docs).
- Strong judgment in resolving ambiguities and distinguishing information relevance.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Who should apply
This role is a fit for entry-level to experienced professionals who bring business-domain knowledge and strong communication and analytical skills rather than heavy technical or coding backgrounds.
Ideal applicants include people with experience in operations, product/management, marketing, sales, engineering teams, or startup operations who enjoy turning messy inputs into structured tasks and clear evaluations.
Compensation, schedule, and next steps
Pay is hourly with a listed range of $20–$45 per hour (hourly rate up to $45/hr). Typical weekly commitment is 20+ hours; exact schedule is flexible and coordinated with the project lead.
If this matches your background, create an OpenTrain account, complete your profile, and apply to the OpenTrain posting so the team can review your experience and invite you to the project workflow.
- Work is remote and open to worldwide applicants who meet the language and skill requirements.
- This is contractor, part-time work focused on document-based evaluation and task creation.
