About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized platform where people build careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with projects that shape how AI understands real-world tasks, help them consolidate work across platforms, and let them build a portable portfolio of AI training experience.
Why work in AI training
AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare, evaluate, and improve the examples that modern models learn from. This work is highly flexible, often fully remote, and accessible to professionals who bring language skills, domain experience, or strong attention to detail.
As an evaluator you directly influence how AI tools perform in professional workflows—making this a great opportunity to apply business expertise to a fast-growing field and help shape tools used across finance, strategy, marketing, and operations.
The role
We are seeking a Business Document Expert (Chinese Speaker) to evaluate AI-generated business documents and provide structured, actionable feedback. You will work with AI-driven productivity tools and review outputs created for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word across multiple business domains.
- Position type: Contractor, part-time; remote (ideally US-based).
- Time commitment: 20+ hours per week.
- Pay: Hourly, range $20–$70 / hr (PAY_PER_HOUR, USD).
What you will do
Your primary responsibility is to assess AI outputs for accuracy, clarity, business relevance, and professional quality. You will design realistic business scenarios, test model performance, and annotate evaluations so AI systems improve over time.
- Evaluate, critique, and rate AI-generated deliverables for structure, correctness, and usability.
- Work directly with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word content produced by models and verify calculations, formatting, and narrative logic.
- Design and test realistic business scenarios that reflect current professional workflows.
- Document recurring issues, escalate patterns, and communicate actionable recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Annotate deliverables using evaluation/rating tasks and provide clear written feedback in required languages.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the core qualifications below. These are required for consideration and reflect the level of business experience needed to judge professional deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in strategy, finance, marketing, operations, sales, HR, or similar business functions.
- Proven mastery of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Acute attention to detail and ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) or an eagerness to learn quickly.
- Fluency in Chinese (spoken and written) as indicated by the role title.
Helpful background (nice to have)
The following experiences are advantageous but not required and will help you excel faster in this role.
- Experience at a Fortune 500 company, top-tier consulting firm, or leading financial institution.
- Prior work in AI evaluation, prompt engineering, or document automation tools.
- MBA or advanced degree and experience mentoring others or giving structured feedback on business deliverables.
How it works
You will complete evaluation/rating tasks that require reading AI-generated documents, applying a rubric, and submitting written feedback. Tasks use DOCUMENT data and an EVALUATION_RATING label type; the labeling software is listed as OTHER. Work is asynchronous and tracked through OpenTrain’s project system.
- Work remotely and independently; follow detailed rubrics and escalation paths provided with each task.
- Expect to deliver clear written notes, annotated examples, and repeatable critique that product teams can action.
- Contractor status: you will be engaged as a part-time contractor and paid hourly within the stated range.
Who should apply
Apply if you bring practical business experience, strong Office-suite skills, and the ability to critique professional documents in Chinese and English. This role is ideal for business professionals seeking flexible, impactful remote work that helps shape AI tools used by teams across industries.
- You thrive working independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- You want to apply real business judgment to improve AI productivity tools.
- You can commit 20+ hours per week and meet the stated qualifications.
