About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover projects, build a unified AI-training portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career in an expanding industry.

Creating an OpenTrain account is free and gives you access to specialized, remote work evaluating and improving AI systems.

  • Work remotely on contract projects that train and refine real AI systems.
  • Build a single portfolio of annotation and evaluation work you control.

About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or RLHF evaluation) is the human work that teaches models how to respond and behave. Your judgments directly influence how AI personalizes replies and supports professional users.

This role focuses on evaluating personalized AI responses for business inboxes—an important area where accurate, context-aware answers matter for real work.

  • You will perform response evaluation and comparative ranking (RLHF-style feedback).
  • Work is detail-oriented, analytical, and centered on real professional email interactions.

The role

As a Business Account Rater you will review AI-generated replies that target business users and assess how well those replies use a real professional Gmail history. Your feedback helps improve model personalization, accuracy, and usefulness for real-world business workflows.

You will work as a contractor for OpenTrain AI and follow strict confidentiality and data-privacy requirements while evaluating messages and writing structured feedback.

  • Evaluate AI replies for relevance, accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate personalization.
  • Compare multiple model responses and select which provides the better user experience.

What you'll do

Daily tasks center on careful inspection of AI outputs against actual business inbox context. You will follow project guidelines to document your judgments and explain choices clearly.

  • Use your professional Google Workspace (corporate Gmail) history and account activity to judge replies.
  • Assess whether responses are relevant, accurate, helpful, and properly personalized to the account.
  • Compare competing model responses and choose the better overall interaction.
  • Identify unsupported assumptions, incorrect personalization, and irrelevant recommendations.
  • Provide clear, well-reasoned evaluation feedback following project instructions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect data-privacy rules while performing all tasks.

Requirements

Candidates must meet all of the required criteria below. These are strict because the work uses real business inbox context and supports model training for professional users.

  • Native-level fluency in the target project language (English).
  • Strong professional English for writing evaluation feedback.
  • Active Google Workspace corporate Gmail account used for professional communication.
  • Well-established business inbox with regular activity and approximately 1,000+ emails.
  • Ability to evaluate nuanced AI responses with strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Clear written communication and the discipline to work independently from home.
  • Desktop or laptop computer with a reliable internet connection.
  • Must be located in the United States and eligible to work as a contractor.

Helpful background

These qualifications are not required but make you a stronger candidate and help you ramp faster on the project.

  • Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or QA work.
  • Prior experience judging personalization or comparing model answers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.

Engagement details

This is a contractor, part-time role with a defined short-term engagement. Schedule flexibility is offered, but you must meet the overlap requirement with Pacific Time (PST).

  • Contract length: approximately 3 to 4 months.
  • Typical workload: 20–40 hours per week; at least 4 hours per day.
  • Required: at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time (PST).
  • Start date and compensation details will be provided during application and onboarding.

How to apply

Create or sign in to your free OpenTrain account, complete your profile, and submit an application for this Business Account Rater role. Applications will be reviewed and qualifying candidates will receive onboarding instructions and confidentiality agreements.

  • Prepare to demonstrate familiarity with your corporate Gmail usage and to confirm you meet the inbox-size requirement.
  • You will receive project guidelines and training if selected; prior AI-evaluation experience speeds onboarding but is not required.
