About AI training and this work
AI training (aka data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare, evaluate, and refine the examples models learn from. This role focuses on shaping how agents understand and act on workplace communications by turning authentic materials into structured tasks and evaluation rubrics.
- Work is 100% remote and flexible — a common way to earn part-time income while gaining cutting-edge experience.
- No special technical setup is required beyond a device and internet; careful judgment, confidentiality, and strong writing are valued.
The role
OpenTrain is recruiting an AI Workflow Task Specialist to review authentic workplace communications and transform them into structured tasks and evaluation materials for AI agent assessment. You will write context-rich prompts and multi-step workflows grounded in real Slack conversations, emails, and internal files while maintaining strict confidentiality.
This is a contractor, part-time role working 20+ hours per week. The position is open worldwide but requires fluent English and careful handling of sensitive workplace data. The hiring organization for this role is OpenTrain.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week, remote and worldwide.
- Language: English required.
What you'll do
Your day-to-day work centers on turning fragmented, real-world workplace communications into actionable, testable inputs for AI systems.
- Analyze Slack conversations, email threads, and internal documents to extract decisions, action items, dependencies, blockers, and unresolved issues.
- Develop multi-step workflows that reflect real knowledge work scenarios and sequence tasks logically.
- Write context-rich prompts and evaluation rubrics tied to authentic workplace material for text-generation and evaluation tasks.
- Resolve ambiguities, connect context across messages and files, and prioritize signal over noise.
- Handle sensitive materials with strict confidentiality and appropriate care.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate strong written communication, judgment, and experience structuring unstructured workplace information into tasks and workflows.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience interpreting unstructured workplace communications and documents (emails, chat, notes, files).
- Ability to synthesize information across conversations, files, and evolving business situations.
- Experience transforming fragmented inputs into structured, multi-step tasks or workflows.
- Skill identifying blockers, dependencies, and unresolved questions.
- A careful approach to data privacy and confidentiality.
Who should apply
This role is suitable for entry-level contributors with relevant experience or for professionals from operations, project management, or knowledge management who want flexible, remote work shaping how AI understands workplace context.
- Helpful backgrounds: operations, project management, startup leadership, account management, process mapping, or knowledge management.
- Good fit if you enjoy synthesizing messy information into clear next steps and can apply strong judgment under ambiguity.
