About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people to projects that teach AI systems how to read, reason, and respond — and help contributors build a portfolio they control while working remotely and flexibly.
OpenTrain contributors work on the human side of AI: preparing and reviewing examples that directly shape model behavior. This role is offered through OpenTrain and managed on the OpenTrain platform.
Why AI Training Work Matters
AI systems learn from examples people create and evaluate. As an evaluator and annotator you provide the high-quality judgments and feedback that make models more helpful, accurate, and safe.
This work is accessible, often part-time and remote, and sits at the cutting edge of how modern AI products are built. Many projects require careful reading, domain familiarity, and clear written feedback rather than advanced technical skills.
The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting for an AI Response Evaluator (contract, part-time) to score, annotate, and provide high-quality feedback on AI-generated text. You will apply rubric-based evaluation to responses spanning business, finance, marketing, healthcare, legal, and research-related subject matter.
This is a remote contractor role with a minimum commitment of 20+ hours per week. Work is paid hourly at a range of $20–$40 USD per hour.
What You’ll Do
Use detailed rubrics and metrics to evaluate AI-generated responses for relevance, coherence, factual accuracy, and helpfulness.
Annotate and categorize text datasets to improve model performance, keeping meticulous records of your judgments and rationale.
- Evaluate and score responses using established rubrics and annotation guidelines.
- Classify content into categories and apply evaluation ratings consistently.
- Provide clear, actionable written feedback to explain scoring decisions and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with the project team to interpret guidelines and help refine rubrics.
- Document findings and maintain organized records of annotations and evaluations.
Requirements
You must have a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrate strong attention to detail, critical reading, and analytical skills. This role suits applicants who can apply detailed scoring criteria reliably and document their work clearly.
Experience evaluating or scoring large volumes of content, plus familiarity with AI training or annotation work, is highly valued but not strictly required if you can show strong relevant skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data annotation and content evaluation.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply rubrics and detailed criteria.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for feedback and documentation.
- Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment.
- Prior AI training, annotation, or content quality review experience preferred.
Who Should Apply
This role fits intermediate-level contributors who enjoy careful reading and structured evaluation of text. Candidates with backgrounds in business, finance, marketing, healthcare, legal work, or research will be especially comfortable with the subject matter.
If you want flexible, remote, part-time contract work that directly influences how AI systems behave, this is a strong opportunity to build experience and a portfolio in AI training.
