The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a 3D Animator for AI Training to support a remote, customer-focused project involving 3D character and object animation. You will produce high-quality animation sequences, document workflows, evaluate creative and technical decisions, and share practical insights that can help improve AI systems.

This is listed as an entry-level opportunity for AI training, but it requires expert-level proficiency in at least one supported 3D animation tool and a strong portfolio of animation work.

What You'll Do

You will create and refine animation work from project briefs while explaining the workflows and decisions behind your results. The project requires clear communication with both technical and creative stakeholders and careful attention to defined quality and style requirements.

  • Produce and refine 3D animation sequences using Cinema 4D, Blender, Mixamo, or Unity.
  • Deliver character and object animations that meet defined quality and style requirements.
  • Document creative processes, technical setups, and project decisions for knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate animation workflows and explain creative and technical choices.
  • Provide clear feedback and practical insights about 3D animation pipelines.
  • Collaborate with technical and creative stakeholders through written and verbal communication.
  • Incorporate revisions and communicate project decisions with attention to detail.

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Applicants should bring expert practical experience in 3D animation and be able to demonstrate that expertise through a strong portfolio. You should also be comfortable analyzing complex workflows, explaining creative problem-solving strategies, and documenting technical decisions clearly.

Experience with multidisciplinary remote collaboration is valuable. Familiarity with rigging, motion capture integration, and optimization for real-time or rendered output is a plus, but prior AI experience is not required.

  • Expert proficiency in at least one of Cinema 4D, Blender, Mixamo, or Unity for 3D animation.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality character and object animation projects.
  • Ability to analyze and explain complex animation workflows and creative decisions.
