Robotics

The interdisciplinary field focusing on the design, construction, and operation of robots using various engineering disciplines.
Definition

Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch that combines principles from mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, information engineering, computer science, and others to design, construct, operate, and apply robots. It encompasses the development of robotic systems that can substitute or augment human activities in various environments, ranging from manufacturing lines and hazardous exploration terrains to household tasks and healthcare.

Robotics involves not only the physical creation of robots but also the software development for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. This field aims to create robots that can perform tasks autonomously or with minimal human intervention, with applications that span industrial automation, medical devices, autonomous vehicles, and personal assistance.

Examples/Use Cases:

In AI and ML, robotics applications often focus on enhancing robots' ability to perceive, interpret, and interact with their environment. For instance, autonomous drones use computer vision, a subfield of AI, to navigate and avoid obstacles, employing algorithms that allow them to understand and react to their surroundings.

In manufacturing, robots equipped with AI can learn from their environment and adapt to new tasks through machine learning, increasing efficiency and flexibility in production lines. In healthcare, robotic assistants can help perform surgeries with precision beyond human capabilities, aided by AI algorithms that provide real-time data analysis and decision support.

Robotics, combined with advancements in AI and ML, is paving the way for increasingly sophisticated machines that can perform a wide range of tasks, from mundane to complex, with significant implications for industry, healthcare, and daily living.
