Meteora Bootcamp Resources Key DeFi Terms ● Liquid Asset ○ A liquid asset is typically used to refer to an asset that can be easily and freely exchanged for cash. Liquidity refers to the availability of liquid assets, and how easily that asset can be exchanged for money. Cryptocurrency is a liquid asset much like stocks are and liquidity is provided by Market Makers. ● Market Makers ○ Provide liquidity in exchange for small amounts earned on spreads. In DeFi, or Decentralized Exchanges, it is fees earned from every trade ● AMM ○ To trade an asset, we need a price at which we can buy or sell. A market maker provide these price quotes. AMM stands for Automated Market Maker, and is how many trades happen on blockchains. It runs on Smart Contracts. ● Swaps ○ Swaps is another word for trading. You are swapping one token for another. Buying and selling ● Slippage ○ The difference in price from the time you submit your transaction to when your actual transaction is executed by the blockchain ● TVL ○ Total Value Locked - The value of the assets within a pool, protocol, blockchain, etc. at any given moment in time, often represented in US Dollars ● Volume ○ This is the amount of trading over a given period of time. Often it is the amount in USD value over the last 24 hours ● Volatility ○ A measure of how much the price of a token has moved up and down over a given time frame ● Market Cap ○ Often abbreviated as MC or MCap - The total value of all tokens in circulation usually in US Dol
