Driver’s Pocket Book THE MOTORIST HAND BOOK The road is governed by rules and regulations to ensure that order is maintained at all times. These regulations and rules are derived from the international, regional and Kenyan law. As road user you should have the knowledge of these rules as this is the first step to ensure you as well as other road users are safe while of the road. These regulations are found in the following documents: ● Traffic Act ● The Highway code The traffic Act sets out the laws that govern the use and expected con- duct of road users. It also includes penalties and fines for not abiding by these rules. The Highway Code is a set of information, advice, guides and manda- tory rules for all road users in Kenya. The purpose of the Highway Code is to promote safety, courtesy and responsible behaviour at all times.
