Bioinformatics Research Project – Drug Mutation Analysis of HIV Protease Sequences (Prof. Osoniyi’s Lab)
Conducted bioinformatics-driven analysis labeling/identification of drug-resistant mutations within HIV protease sequence data. Retrieved HIV sequences from public databases, performed cleaning, and extracted the protease region prior to comparative analysis. Labeled and interpreted conserved/consensus patterns and identified which mutations were associated with drug resistance. • Used MUSCLE-based sequence alignment to compare protease sequences. • Identified conserved and consensus sequences from aligned data. • Determined drug-resistant mutations from analyzed HIV protease sequences. • Documented findings as part of a research project workflow.
